Enjoying the Coolness of Nature at Puncak Bogor

Puncak Bogor has long been a favourite destination for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. With fresh air, stunning natural scenery and a variety of interesting destinations, it's no wonder this region is always crowded with tourists, especially during weekends or holidays. The following is the story of my journey to explore the beauty of Puncak Bogor.

My journey started from Tangerang on Saturday morning. Choosing to leave at 5am proved to be the right decision, as the route to Puncak is famous for its traffic jams, especially on weekends. I had prepared a jacket, warm clothes and a small umbrella considering the cool Puncak weather and the occasional sudden rain.

The journey to Puncak itself already offered a pleasant experience. After passing through the Jagorawi toll road, the scenery begins to change. Tall buildings slowly give way to greenery and fresher air. Entering the Cisarua area, I can see rows of stalls selling various souvenirs typical of Puncak, ranging from fresh strawberries to various handicrafts.

My first destination was Gunung Mas Tea Garden. The panoramic view of the vast green expanse of the tea plantation is truly a feast for the eyes. I spent a few hours walking around, taking pictures, and enjoying fresh tea straight from the plantation. There are also tea picking activities that visitors can participate in to experience first-hand how the tea harvesting process is carried out.

Once I was satisfied at the Tea Garden, I continued my journey to Taman Safari Indonesia. Different from most zoos, here visitors can see animals more closely because we enter their habitat using vehicles. Seeing different types of animals directly while learning about their conservation efforts is a very educational experience.

Tired of travelling around, your stomach starts to rumble for food. Puncak offers a variety of appetising culinary options. I chose to have lunch at one of the restaurants with a lesehan concept that offers a beautiful view. Tasting fresh grilled fish with Sundanese green chilli while gazing at the natural beauty of Puncak is a pleasure in itself.

I also tried the roasted corn and hot coffee sold on the roadside. The sensation of enjoying steaming roasted corn while being blown by the cool breeze of Puncak is a simple thing that is very memorable.

For my stay, I chose a small villa overlooking the valley. Waking up in the morning to the sight of a light mist blanketing the valley, accompanied by the chirping of birds, was refreshing for my tired soul.

Before heading home, I took the time to visit Telaga Warna in the morning. It's a decision I don't regret because I get to witness a stunning sunrise. The lake water changing colour with the reflection of the morning sun creates a magical scene that is hard to forget.

No trip is complete without souvenirs. Before heading back to Jakarta, I stopped by the traditional market to buy a variety of speciality products from Puncak. These range from fresh strawberries, various types of ornamental plants, to speciality foods such as dodol and Bogor taro.
